Resilience investing
The 20th anniversary of the first Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro will be received with mixed feelings by funders who have spent decades supporting environmental agendas. This special feature argues that we need to start thinking in terms of ‘resilience investing’: an agenda where impact investors and philanthropists respond to the crisis of ecological limits that humanity faces by seeking to shift the economic fundamentals and supporting new ideas to boost the resilience of the oceans, rivers and lakes, forests and fertile soils needed for our species to continue thriving in the 21st century. What are the risks and opportunities ahead?
