TCFN study looks at new landscape for community foundations outside US
Demographic shifts are likely to accelerate; there are new expectations for public problem-solving, away from government-based to private sector- and community-based solutions; and NGOs are being asked to tackle a greater number of problems – and problems of increasing complexity – with which their resources and capacity are failing to keep pace.
These are among the key findings of a new report from the Transatlantic Community Foundation Network (TCFN) on the major trends likely to affect community foundations’ work outside the US. The report came out of the TCFN Academy 2006, held in collaboration with the Stanford Graduate School of Business in Palo Alto, California. It outlines the dominant themes of the Academy’s discussions and includes short analyses of the specific situations in Canada, Mexico and eight European countries.
