New findings from the Johns Hopkins Center for Civil Society Studies

Scandinavian countries have the highest level of private philanthropy in the world, once contributions of time and money are taken into account. According to the latest data from the Johns Hopkins Comparative Nonprofit Sector Project, the value of private contributions of time and money in Sweden, Norway and Finland is on average equivalent to 3.3 per cent of GDP, compared to 2.2 per cent in Anglo-Saxon countries, 2.1 per cent in Western Europe and 1.8 per cent in Africa.
