A recent study by the Grupo de Institutos, Fundações e Empresas (Group of Institutes, Foundations and Enterprises – GIFE) shows that private social investment in Brazil may rise by 6 per cent in 2010 from last year. The information was presented at the opening of the 6th annual GIFE Congress on Private Social Investment. The study shows, however, that the coverage of issues and regions in Brazil is far from uniform. ‘Achieving a national dimension for social investment (so that initiatives do not remain only local) is one of the sector’s greatest challenges,’ noted GIFE Secretary General Fernando Rossetti when presenting the study.

At the Congress, held in Rio de Janeiro between 7 and 9 April, GIFE also presented a vision of private social investment for Brazil in 2020, to be based on relevance, legitimacy, inclusiveness and diversity.
