A community foundation typically receives money from local donors and distributes it to local causes. In the case of Community Foundation Silicon Valley (CFSV), however, 35 per cent of its funds leave the region, with 5 per cent going outside the US. The community foundation has even altered its articles of incorporation to reflect this activity. What lies behind these figures, Alliance asked Peter Hero, president of CFSV.
