Big Give set to make life easier for big givers

A website that will help major donors to find charitable projects to support was launched in early October. The Big Give is the brainchild of Alec Reed, founder of Reed Recruitment Group, who will invest £1 million in promoting the site to high net worth individuals, corporate foundations and legacy advisers.

The Big Give will allow donors to search for charitable projects in their field of interest, filtering their search options by donation amount, geographical location, charitable sector and type of beneficiary. Charities input details of their projects, all of which must be in the £100,000 to £10 million range; any UK-registered charity can register. Once donors have chosen a project, they can link to advice from Philanthropy UK, which also publishes A Guide to Giving, and follow Charity Commission links to conduct preliminary due diligence on the charity.
