Grantmakers without Borders – GwoB and FNTG merge

After almost a year of deliberation and consultation with members, Grantmakers without Borders (GwoB) and the Funders Network on Transforming the Global Economy (FNTG) have formed a new funders’ alliance to be known as EDGE Funders Alliance – Engaged Donors for Global Equity.

The new entity offers both the advantages of administrative streamlining and the combination of the experience, resources and network of contacts and advisers of the two partners. It will also enable them to work collectively on what have been parallel programmes to give them greater impact.

Leadership for EDGE Funders will come from members of GwoB and FNTG boards, as well as other grantmakers familiar with and sympathetic to the work of both organizations. Mark Randazzo has been appointed as director of the EDGE Funders Alliance.

EDGE’s first tasks are to continue working with fellow funder affinity groups in the wake of Rio+20 to organize funders who took part in that conference and to finalize plans for a donor/grassroots activists delegation to a social movements gathering in Monastir, Tunisia. In addition, the Alliance will be working to organize its first community gathering at the Just Giving Conference in Berkeley, California, 5-7 September.
