Dutch civil society active and well-organized, but some negative trends

The Netherlands has an active and well-organized civil society operating in an enabling environment, according to the CIVICUS Civil Society Index country assessment. However, the study also identified a number of negative trends, particularly with regard to civil society’s role in maintaining social cohesion in the face of growing social tensions, and the state’s shift towards a less accommodating style of interaction with CSOs.
