01 December 2011
Alliance magazine

EU immigration policies have developed rapidly in the last few years, many of them following a trend of restricted entry for migrants, especially those coming from the South. But EU efforts to harmonize immigration policies have led to a situation that is more complex for policymakers, stakeholders and those affected by key decisions. 01 December 2011
Alliance magazine

Fiscal consolidation within the European Union means that a stronger social economy is required to deliver what the state can no longer do. A stronger and better integrated Europe-wide social investment market is needed to attract more private capital. Euclid Network and FEBEA (Fédération Européenne de Finances et Banques Ethiques et Alternatives) have therefore assembled a task force for a European Social Investment Facility (ESIF) to explore how the European Commission can most effectively use its limited financial resources to support social investment.

Malcolm Hayday

Alliance magazine

If you Google social enterprise development in Hungary you get singular references to the CEE Trust and the Euclid Network but almost all the content comes from NESsT, which began its work with nascent social enterprises in Hungary almost 15 years ago. It was therefore no surprise that the first Social Enterprise Day, held in Budapest on 3 June, was organized by NESsT and was a showcase for NESsT and its portfolio’s work in addressing critical social issues.
