As part of an initiative to shine a light on philanthropy’s role in creating safe, healthy, and just societies, Candid (formerly known as the Foundation Center and Guidestar) and Centris (Rethinking Poverty) recently launched a study to further explore.

The study hopes to ‘clarify its role in creating peaceful and inclusive societies that provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable, and responsive institutions,’ according to Centris Executive Director Barry Knight. As the first stage of this study, a survey has been created to ‘identify stakeholders, strategies, and outcomes across a variety of dimensions of social progress.

Initial results will be published in the June 2019 issue of Alliance magazine. The edition will contain an in-depth feature exploring the role of philanthropy in peace building. There will be 30 pages of global views illuminating practice from around the world, exploring the merit and value of community based approaches to conflict resolution and profiling some of the pioneering people and networks in the field.

Closing on Wednesday 27 March, the survey has 20 questions and takes approximately 7-8 minutes to complete.
