The Nigeria Network of NGOs (NNNGO) recently published its list of the top 100 civil society leaders in Nigeria to celebrate the energy, innovation, leadership, resilience, and courage of individuals who are ‘using their influence, ideas, example, talent and discoveries to shape our country and world.’

With the myriad of challenges facing Nigeria, civil society organisations continue to play an important role in addressing multiple socio-economic challenges and contribute largely to progress in progress in democracy and development. Recognizing the role that these leaders and their organizations play is important in amplifying the availability of capacity and leadership credibility in Nigeria’s development sector.

Among those recognized on this list and representing Nigeria’s philanthropy sector include:

• Katja Schiller Nwator – Founder, Philanthropy Circuit
• Osayi Alile – CEO, ACT Foundation
• Mosun Layode – Executive Director, African Philanthropy Forum
• Udo Jude Ilo – Country Officer, Open Society Initiative for West Africa
• Kole Shettima – Director, MacArthur Foundation

NNNGO is the first generic membership body for civil society organisations in Nigeria that facilitates effective advocacy on issues of poverty and other developmental issues.
