‘Women’s issues’ centre stage

When it was first suggested to me almost two years ago at the 2002 Grantmakers Without Borders conference that Alliance should do a special feature on women’s funds, I wasn’t sure. We usually focus on what I think of as ‘generic’ issues of interest to funders – community philanthropy, making grants overseas, donors’ exit strategies, etc. Soon after that, I attended a breakout session on women’s funds. Out of the 20 people there, 19 were women. Maybe we should do the special feature, I thought.
