600 Indian NGOs blacklisted in crackdown on ‘ghosts’ and ‘fakes’

In a move intended to crack down on fake and ghost NGOs, India’s Rural Development Ministry ordered the blacklisting of 600 NGOs in June this year, lodging first information reports against 21 others and handing over 10 cases to the country’s Central Bureau of Investigation.
