Mixed news on likely effects on corporate giving of recession

Although total charitable giving by the 500 biggest companies has grown in real terms over the past few years, it has fallen by more than half as a percentage of pre-tax profits, according to the Charities Aid Foundation – from 1.6 per cent in 2001-02 to just 0.7 per cent in 2005-06, the latest period for which figures are available.
