Urgent Action Fund increases Latin American operations

The Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights provides rapid response grants that enable strategic interventions, and participates in collaborative advocacy and research. The Fund, which has a consolidated branch for Africa (UAF Africa), has announced a broader and decentralized action plan for Latin America.

As of 17 November 2009, Urgent Action Fund-Latin America (UAF-Latin America) has taken over responsibility for reviewing all proposals for rapid response grants from Latin America. UAF-Latin America, based in Bogotá, Colombia, has been operating as the third independent Urgent Action Fund since August 2009. Urgent Action Fund, UAF-Africa, and UAF-Latin America will continue to collaborate in their shared mission to promote the human rights of women and girls around the world. UAF-Latin America will be responsible for all requests from Spanish-speaking areas of Latin America and the Caribbean.
