US Treasury leads multilateral fund to stimulate microfinance

The US government is part of a new initiative to help microfinance lenders weather the financial storm and increase their capacity when better times arrive. The US has brought together the Inter-American Development Bank’s Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) with the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the Inter-American Investment Corporation to launch a new Microfinance Growth Fund for the Western Hemisphere.
