Equality of opportunities increasing, but diversity not seen as strategic factor by Brazilian companies

A study of Brazilian companies carried out by Ethos Institute and Ibope Inteligência suggests that diversity, one of Brazil’s biggest comparative advantages, is not a strategic factor for companies. Perfil social, racial e gênero das 500 maiores empresas do Brasil (Social, racial and gender profile of the 500 largest companies in Brazil) finds, however, that equal opportunities promotion and support by companies is expanding though programmes targeted at social equality and inclusion. Sixty-three per cent of the 105 companies studied say they currently carry out equal opportunities programmes within their companies, and some of them support philanthropic actions in this field.
