IDB launches fund to strengthen the base of the pyramid throughout the region

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) recently announced the launch of the IGNIA social investment fund, an enterprise capital firm that serves the poorest residents of Latin America and the Caribbean. The fund will receive a USD 5 million loan and a donation of USD 205,000 for technical cooperation from the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) to invest in regional companies that are in development or expansion stages and whose main focus is to offer commercial solutions to provide for the needs of the region’s most vulnerable residents.
