New foundation to make US corporate giving to Latin America easier

A group of companies in Denver has set up an organization to facilitate US company giving to projects in Latin America. The Chamber of the Americas Foundation will help US companies operating in Latin American countries to give to projects in those countries without the need to use intermediary organizations which, according to Foundaton Director Rich Mitchell, has proved unsatisfactory, in part because of US anti-terrorist legislation governing overseas donations. The Foundation will focus particularly on the development of microenterprises and has already begun work on pilot projects in Colombia and Costa Rica.
