Two-thirds of US foundations expect to reduce spending in 2009

Despite losing nearly $150 billion in assets last year, US foundation giving for 2008 held steady at an estimated $45.6 billion, says the Foundation Center. However, further research by the Center suggests that almost two-thirds of foundations expect to reduce the number and/or the size of grants they award in 2009.
