Weingart Foundation boosts operating support to counter economic downturn

The Weingart Foundation, in Los Angeles, has announced that it will expand its general operating support programme in response to the slowing economy. The programme, detailed guidelines for which will be released this month, will provide non-profits with up to $150,000 each in unrestricted operating support to sustain programme elements and underwrite administrative infrastructure. It will be open to non-profits that provide essential health, human, and infant, child and youth development services to underserved, at-risk, and economically disadvantaged individuals. Special consideration will be given to safety-net programmes that deal in necessities such as food, shelter, healthcare and clothing.
