‘Aligning for Results’ was the title of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations’ fourth national conference. ‘Alignment’ is potentially a bit of a catch-all, ‘all things to all people’ term. Not surprisingly, speakers at the GEO conference, taken together, ended up recommending aligning almost everything to do with a foundation’s activities with something else. For me, some of the most interesting presentations related to aligning philanthropy as a whole both with its history and with its most promising future.
