Guide for would-be investors in community income-generating projects

The Fundación DIS para el Desarrollo Institucional de Organizaciones Sociales (Foundation for the Institutional Development of Social Organizations – DIS) in Colombia has published a guide to help steer Latin American foundations and companies through the practices and challenges of social investment in income-generating schemes in low-income communities. The publication, which has been developed as part of a Collaborative Philanthropy and Social Inclusion project supported by the Ford Foundation, is based on lessons learned by foundations, especially those involved in RedEAmérica, and others with experience in the area. Its special focus is on community initiatives to create income and it therefore pays particular attention to the value of partnerships in income creation projects for people living in vulnerable conditions.
