The UK has a new research institute, the ESRC Research Centre for Charitable Giving and Philanthropy, to provide independent research; create knowledge exchange between philanthropy practitioners and academics; develop and disseminate the evidence to influence policy; and advance scholarship on giving. Launched last month, the Centre is funded by the government’s Office of the Third Sector, the Economic and Social Research Council, the Scottish Government and Carnegie Trust UK.
