New platform to combat climate change in Latin America

Latin American organizations from the social and environmental, business, academic and communications sectors are collaborating in a regional initiative to combat climate change. Supported by the AVINA Foundation, which is also an active participant in the initiative, organizations from ten countries met in Rio de Janeiro in January to discuss the formation of a Latin American Climate Platform. The purpose of the Platform is to help coordinate regional efforts to combat climate change. It will also seek to influence public opinion and policy-making on the issue.
