Larry Brilliant is to step down as executive director of Google.org, it was revealed in February. The move is expected to signal a shift in Google’s approach to philanthropy. He wrote on a Google blog that he and others in the company had been reviewing Google.org’s progress in its three years of operation and suggested that it might restrict its financing of non-profits to those that are closely aligned with Google projects.
