The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Foundation has announced a $10 million pledge to a social impact scheme that will support short-to-medium term local community projects focusing on financial literacy, diversity and inclusion, poverty relief, and environmental sustainability.

‘HKEX Foundation is very proud to be launching this programme as part of its overall philanthropic initiatives,’ said the Foundation’s Chairperson Laura M Cha. ‘In the last 12 months, HKEX Foundation has channelled more than $174 million to those most in need in Hong Kong and beyond. This new Impact Funding Scheme will enhance our outreach, channelling another $10 million to support small proactive charities, without other major support, to run projects that bring positive changes to our community.’

The social impact fund will target support those who need it most, while also seeking to support innovation in finding solutions for social and environmental challenges. Launched in partnership with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, the impact funding scheme is open for applications until 11 August.

The HKEX Foundation was launched in June 2020 to deepen its parent corporation’s commitment to addressing social and environmental challenges faced by communities in Hong Kong.
