Community, feminist, and transgender-led NGOs based in Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Paraguay, and Peru, working to respond to risks and challenges of socio-environmental conflicts are eligible for grants of up to $8,000 in a new funding initiative launched by Fondo de Acción Urgente.

Fondo de Acción Urgente (FAU), or Emergency Action Fund, is a feminist fund that supports activists and their movements across Latin America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean. The Fund puts feminist protection and care at the centre of its work by supporting the resistance, struggle, and defense of activists and community organisers that work to transform systems of injustice and inequality.

FAU is looking to support initiatives that aim to influence public opinion and decision-makers; strengthen capacity for risk prevention; implement and strengthen communication; or involve political and collective strengthening by supporting women and gender-dissident people to take a leadership role in community structures and collective resistance.

The application for funding support is open until 11 May. For more information, visit fondoaccionurgente.org.co.
