The Emerging Markets Foundation (EMpower) has announced the appointment of Cynthia Steele as their new president and CEO after 14 years as their Executive Vice President and Global Head of Programs.
As Executive Vice President at EMpower, Steele led the global program team and was responsible for more than $30 million in grants and an active portfolio of more than 100 local grantee partners, which have reached over one million youth in 15 emerging market countries to-date.
Cynthia said ‘This is an exciting moment to catapult thinking and practices on smart philanthropy, and on building opportunities and leadership for young people, especially adolescent girls who have great potential yet too often are left out. I feel incredibly fortunate to lead EMpower’s work to create a better world for youth living in emerging market countries.’
