Heba Abou Shnief, Senior Research and Data Director at the Arab Foundations Forum, joined the Alliance magazine team as Regional Representative for the Arab Region earlier this year.

Based in Egypt, Abou Shnief brings a wealth of localised philanthropy knowledge about the Arab Region that is helping Alliance globalise its coverage and raise the profile of philanthropy in a part of the world where it receives less coverage.

‘The role of Arab Regional Representative is a needed step towards localization and the development of a philanthropic narrative that is reflective of our rich culture of giving, emergent local philanthropic practices and voices from the field. With the support and contribution of a growing philanthropic community, I hope we can collectively inform the conversation and deepen our understanding of effective philanthropic practices and the enabling conditions for them to flourish’, said Abou Shnief.
