A new report from the Africa Grantmakers’ Affinity Group shares advice and reflections by individuals engaged in grantmaking in Africa.
The report surveyed 17 individuals over a period from November 2019 to February 2020 who had experience working as grantmakers in Africa, and it also drew upon the two decades of experience of the Africa Grantmakers’ Affinity Group has as a gathering place for a diverse group of grantmakers based inside and outside of Africa.
‘People have to get out of their bubbles and get out of their techy-techy solutions and their entrepreneurialism. We need to trust people to be resilient and get them the funds’, reads one comment in the report.
The report looks at how grantmakers navigate roles and relationships, understand different contexts, form collaborative relationships, and understand change.
