The Oak Foundation has appointed Masego Madzwamuse as director of its  Environment Programme. Madzwamuse, who was previously CEO at the Southern Africa Trust, joined the Geneva-based team last month.

‘Masego has an established track record as grant maker and a policy analyst specialising in climate justice, natural resources management, and social development,’ said Oak Foundation President Douglas Griffiths in a statement.

In a recent interview published by the Oak Foundation, Madzwamuse shared her motivation for joining the foundation’s environment work, saying: ‘What’s giving me hope is the energy that humanity has to find solutions. Change is happening as the result of pressure from people, as a result of pressure from civil society, and as a result of the science being clear and loud. The climate crisis and problem of ecosystem collapse have become difficult to ignore and that really gives me hope for tipping the scales in the in the right direction. The movement is stronger than it has ever been.’
