The Vladimir Potanin Foundation will launch a new Center for Philanthropy Development aimed at reviewing the philosophy of philanthropy both in Russia and beyond. It is designed to help Russian philanthropy integrate into a global context and foster new partnerships.

Oksana Oracheva, the Foundation’s general director, said ‘The Center will become an intellectual hub which creates, accumulates and shares state-of-the-art knowledge and practices that are going to change the philanthropy landscape in Russia. In due course it will become one of the centers that shape new philanthropy agenda.’

One of the first pilot projects of the Center will be research based on big data usage in philanthropy. The centre was launched along with several new initiatives to mark the foundation’s 20th anniversary year, including a new programmatic area to be developed in 2019 which will use sport and technology for social change, and a new Museums Launch competition within the Museums without Borders programme.

Another priority, emphasized by the foundation’s chair, Larisa Zelkova, is a comprehensive use of digital technologies, from their implementation in competition procedures to designing a new website that would become a multimedia venue for all community members. She also noted that the Foundation has increased its grant funding.
